Studio

Our name, WeShouldDoItAll (WSDIA), is simply an intention.* We feel designers should not be constrained to a singular expertise. To survive and excel within the creative realm, it is essential to know there is no single, absolute solution to any given problem. To immerse oneself in different avenues allows consideration of the otherwise unconsidered. It’s this method of working that excites and serves to drive our studio’s practice.

*A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
— Robert A. Heinlein, Time Enough For Love

We are a contemporary design studio that translates client needs into dynamic, visual systems that can be presented at multiple scales. These solutions take the form of branding, spatial, environmental, interactive, or print projects. We oscillate between accomplished commercial clients, established public institutions, social impact initiatives, and the unconventional or boutique — preserving our dynamic nature and avoiding a singular area of expertise or client type. This provides an edge that we apply to all challenges, as different industries are constantly overlapping and inspiring one another.

People

Christopher Al-Jumah (he/him), Spatial Designer
The Houston born architect/designer has completed his education at the University of Houston and TU Graz Austria. Having worked for the stellar studios like Situ and MESH Architecture he brings a great knowledge of experience and skills in fabrication and design.

Mai-Phuong Bui (they/them), Graphic Designer
The Vietnam born nonbinary designer and visual artist is also an illustrator, storyteller, and mythmaker, they are invested in filling the gaps in (queer) history caused by oppression or colonization by exploring queerness as being stripped of humanness and declining the right to reincarnate. In their spare time, they design with the collective OTHER PUBLISHING.

Janet Chan (she/her), Graphic Designer
Born in El Salvador and raised in China, this animal-loving designer works on identity, print, spatial and interaction projects. Her interest range from developing structures to tell a narrative in different forms to collecting ceramics when traveling. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Parsons School for Design and has worked on projects for clients across the art and culture industry to business. Prior to working at WSDIA, she has worked as at Thinx Inc, Wkshps, and the Met Museum of Art.

Courtney Hafer (she/her), Studio & Project Manager

Jeemin Shim (she/her), Graphic Designer
is a visual practitioner who views graphic design as the active practice of thought, engagement, and expression. She aligns herself not as an expert, but as a curious generalist and learner who strives for conceptual rigor, versatility, and care. Formerly, Jeemin worked on spatial graphics and guidelines for Formation, Houston, and limited edition art multiples and experiences for VISIONAIRE in New York. As Jeemin continues in design, she seeks every day to support rather than direct, look back to see ahead, and listen.

Geraldine Vargas (she/her), Spatial Designer
The Peruvian-American designer based in New York/New Jersey practicing around exhibition, interior, and architecture design. She is interested in playful visual culture, digital landscapes, and intersectional public spaces.
